About this experience

On the night train.

The Caledonian Sleeperverify leaves London Euston late in the evening and divides in the night. One part runs to Inverness through Aviemore, one to Fort William on the West Highland line, one to Aberdeen. You go to bed in London and wake up to the Highlands.

It is the best way to begin a northern trip from London, and it saves a night and a flight.

We book a cabin with its own shower where we can, dinner in the club car, and the first morning at the other end. Fort William connects to Mallaig and the Small Isles; Inverness to the north coast and Orkney.
